Senior Software Automation Engineer

YOUR MISSION:  Your mission is to implement continuously automate testing for backend APIs, databases, and core dispatch functionalities. You will develop and maintain tools for functional and performance testing. Success in this role is achieved by focusing on automation for function, scale, and performance testing, utilizing methodologies like chaos engineering. You should be proactive in identifying issues and committed to resolving them. 
 

YOUR LEGACY:  The legacy you’ll leave in this role includes a test automation system for backend systems that validates business logic and interfaces for the robustness, completeness, performance and quality, as well as ease of development of automation tests. WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

First 2 months:

• Gain comprehensive understanding of our backend testing paradigm. 
• Acquire knowledge about our automation, testing philosophy, and environment 

2) Ongoing... 

• Test and validate backend components, APIs, and databases.
• Develop automation scripts for both new and existing features.
• Conduct thorough functional test of all features prior to release
• Implementing, maintaining and executing test strategies to help improve overall code quality and test coverage
• Recording all test results for each test suite, reporting on results, and disseminating findings to provide a high-level summary of areas tested
• Ensuring integrity between linked systems and championing the flow of data across all systems to ensure data consistency
• Developing and enhancing test infrastructure and our integration framework
• Actively collaborating with all other teams to triage any inbound issue reported

Technical Skills :

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
• 5+ years of software development, preferably in startups or companies working on automation testing of web-based applications. 
• Experience developing automation test pipelines for mobile web applications using frameworks like Cypress or Selenium.
• Performance testing and profiling of Backend applications
• Writing testing plans and routines come naturally to you.
• Managing continuous integration and regression testing processes are within your wheelhouse.
• Experience in testing and automating mobile web browsers.
• You have a good knowledge of performance testing tools for scalability of services.
• Your skill set includes hands-on scripting experience using Python or similar scripting languages.
• You have developed, maintained, and upgraded automated test scripts and architecture.
• You have a good understanding of REST-based API testing.
• You are detailed in writing test suites and test scenarios.
• You proactively find problems in the UI platform before they can become real problems.   
• You are constantly upgrading your skill set and applying that to be proactive about the current and emerging security issues and practices. 

NICE TO HAVES:

• Experience mentoring engineers in automation 
• Experience with AWS cloud services
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.

THE NITTY GRITTY:

• Location = Great news!  This position is remote and you have the option of working from anywhere in the U.S.!
• Manager = You’ll report to the Senior Technical Lead
• Compensation =  The base salary range for this  position is $120,000 - $150,000. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
